For the past two years, my Grade 12 students have had the incredible opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the filmmaking process. Not only did they write their own screenplays, but they also had the opportunity to see one of their stories come to life on screen.
Watching their screenplay develop through the filming process and ultimately seeing the finished product was such an authentic and rewarding learning experience. It allowed students to take what they had learned in the classroom and experience the creative process firsthand. Seeing their ideas, hard work, and collaboration come together in a completed production was truly meaningful for them.
